Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies – Three scholarships for doctoral studies (March 2024 – February 2027)

The Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) invites applications for three doctoral scholarships at Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin for the summer semester of 2024, starting 01 March 2024. Applicants (m/f/d) must hold an outstanding university degree (M.A., M.St., M.Sc., Dipl.) in an Ancient Studies discipline or in a related discipline. The dissertation projects should include a significant digital research component. Each scholarship is endowed with € 1,468 per month and is initially granted for two years, with an option to extend for a third year after positive evaluation. Applications must be submitted electronically via the BerGSAS portal by 15 September 2023, 24:00 CEST.

CfP: Sixth International Conference on the Ancient Novel

The Sixth International Conference on the Ancient Novel (ICAN VI), with the theme ‘Roads less travelled’, will take place from 21st to 24th September 2022 and will be hosted in hybrid form, both in Ghent (Belgium) and online. Proposals are hereby invited for papers and panels. The conference is open to all areas of study related to the ancient novel.

Lisbon Declaration on Humanities, Open Research and Innovation

The FIEC board has decided to sign the Lisbon Declaration on Humanities, Open Research and Innovation as an important contribution to the defense of the Humanities. The Lisbon Declaration is the result of the recent European Humanities Conference, organised by CIPSH, UNESCO, and the Portuguese Government's Foundation for Science and Technology, in Lisbon from 5 to 7 May 2021. The FIEC board warmly invites all the affiliated associations of the FIEC to sign it individually as well.
