This week, we would like to let you know that the University of
Rostock and its Heinrich Schliemann-Institut für Altertumswissenschaften
(Department of Classics) invite applications from postgraduates and PhD
candidates to participate in the International Summer Academy Rostock (ISAR)
that will take place from the 21st
to the 27th of August 2016.
The topic of ISAR 2016 has been announced to be „Bild und Text. Medialität in der Antike” (Image and Text.
Mediality in Antiquity). Academic guidance and support will be provided
by Prof. Dr. Christiane Reitz as well as Prof. Dr. Gunnar Seelentag (both
Rostock University).
ISAR 2016 will award bursaries to a group of up to 20 international
and German participants. This offer is addressed to postgraduates and PhD
candidates in the field of Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Archaeology, History
with a focus on antiquity, and related fields of study. The aim of the Academy
is for this group to enter into a discussion with Rostock´s scholars and to
work on current interdisciplinary issues related to both research in and the
reception of antiquity.
Note that the language of instruction will be German. However,
discussions may be held in English. The deadline for applications is the 15th of April 2016.
